As far as we know, we are the only Festival where you can see these three award winning musicians together as a trio!
The lads that make up SuperTrad visited the Durango Celtic Festival two years ago (under a different name). We caught them as they were passing through as sort of a last minute addition to what was an already full lineup that year. The rest is legend! Tomas Callister, Adam Rhodes & Paddy Callaghan took the stage by storm and our festival attendees have been begging for their return. Well, they’re here for all four days as one our headline acts! Since they were last with us Tomas & Adam have been a part of the much acclaimed and award winning band, Imar. And Paddy has remained busy performing as the most skilled button accordion player known to humankind! Brace yourselves for a musical act that will get you out of your seats!
A talented multi-instrumentalist, Adam Rhodes was originally born in England before moving to the Isle of Man at the tender age of 8. Ever since Adam has been heavily involved in the Manx music scene. He is well-known through his involvement with one of the island’s leading Celtic groups, King Chiaullee, with whom he recorded three albums and represented the Island at festivals all over the world including Brittany, Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, USA and Canada. He now plays with the award winning Glasgow based band, Imar.
Paddy Callaghan is a multi-instrumentalist from Glasgow, Scotland. In common with many from the West of Scotland, Paddy has family origins in Ireland- the Tyrone/Derry & Donegal regions in particular. Graduating from his musical education with St. Roch’s Ceili Band and the Irish Minstrels Branch of Comhaltas under the legendary Frank McArdle, Paddy has gone on to take his unique musical style worldwide. Initially Paddy started on the tin-whistle but before long had progressed to the Button Accordion. A few years later he started learning the harp and in his teens, took up the concertina. Although thoroughly accomplished on all these instruments, it is without doubt the Button Accordion to which Paddy is a master.
With his energetic style and effortless delivery of complex melodies Paddy has amassed a fanbase across the globe and is in extremely high demand as a touring musician.
Paddy performs regularly with his own trio – The Paddy Callaghan Trio, he also performs as a solo musician and has various other projects including his Big-Band, DJ’ing Trisco’s (Trad Disco’s) and also playing in bands alongside other musicians
A familiar face on the Manx music scene, Tomas Callister has established himself as one of the leading Manx musicians, despite being in his early twenties. Not only satisfied with being an outstanding fiddle player, Tom also plays guitar, banjo and pretty much any other instrument thrown his way! Tom is well known throughout the island as a passionate supporter of Manx music as a soloist and as a member of local Manx group ‘The Reeling Stones’ and trad pop band Mec Lir. He now plays with the award winning, Glasgow based band, Imar.
